Liz Truss is the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom

The result was officially announced on Monday.

Liz Truss is scheduled to meet Queen Elizabeth II on Tuesday. After that, this 47-year-old politician will take over as the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

Conservative Party Chairman Sir Grahab Brady said that Liz Truss received 81,326 votes in the party poll. And Rishi Sunak got 60 thousand 399 votes. 82.6 percent of the total voters exercised their right to vote.

On July 7, the leader of the Conservative Party and former Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced his resignation. After that, the process of electing a new leader of the Conservative Party and a new Prime Minister began. Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss survived the last process. In the process Conservative Party members voted for Rishi Sunak and Liz Trudge. At the end of the process, Liz Truss was elected leader of the Conservative Party and Prime Minister.

Oxford University-educated Liz Truss was Foreign Secretary in outgoing Prime Minister Boris Johnson's government. Born into a left-wing family, Truss was originally a Liberal Democrat. However, in 2010, he was elected MP from the Conservative Party. Truss was against Brexit. But when the British voted for Brexit, he quickly became a staunch supporter. After the Brexit process was completed, then Prime Minister Boris Johnson appointed Liz Truss to head the delegation to negotiate a free trade agreement. Truss took over as Foreign Minister last year.

Liz Truss has been compared to Margaret Thatcher, the first female British Prime Minister, because of the clothes she wears and the locations she chooses to photograph, such as in a tank in Estonia and in a fur hat in Moscow. He is known as a tough critic of Russia on the Ukraine issue.
